Frequently asked questions

Are Boss air tanks made from steel or aluminium?

All Boss air tanks are manufactured from aluminium. This keeps weight down and eliminates internal rust, which is a common issue with steel tanks, especially in humid environments or where moisture is not drained regularly.

Do I still need to drain an aluminium air tank?

Yes. Even though aluminium tanks do not rust internally, moisture from compressed air still collects in the system. Periodic draining removes water and helps protect valves, airbags and other components from corrosion and contamination.

What size tank do I need for my air suspension setup?

The ideal tank size depends on how the system is used. Load Assist kits that only adjust airbag pressures can run on a small tank or even no tank with a suitable compressor. Full air suspension, frequent ride-height changes, tyre inflation or air tools all benefit from a larger tank. Bigger tanks provide more usable air but take longer to fill.

Why can't you give a generic tank fill time?

Tank fill time depends on several factors – compressor output, duty cycle, tank volume, system pressure and ambient conditions. Because these vary widely between setups, there is no single accurate fill time that applies to every combination. It is better to size the compressor and tank based on how often and how quickly you need to use the air.

What is the purpose of the five ports on this air tank?

The five ports on the air tank provide flexibility for installation and connectivity. This allows you to customise your setup according to your specific air suspension system needs.

Can this air tank be used with any air suspension system?

Yes, the 3 Gallon Aluminium Air Tank is designed to be compatible with various air suspension systems, particularly those using airbags. Ensure that you select appropriate fittings and connections for your specific application.

What are the benefits of using an aluminium air tank over a steel one?

Aluminium air tanks, like this one, are lightweight and resistant to rust, ensuring longevity and reliability. Unlike steel tanks, they do not rust internally, which helps maintain air quality and system performance.

What is the typical use case for this air tank?

The 3 Gallon Aluminium Air Tank is typically used in air suspension systems to store compressed air, allowing for quick adjustments to airbag pressure. It is ideal for load assist applications, enhancing vehicle stability and performance.
